Tonight, the UFC goes live on pay-per-view for the 228th time! Live from Dallas Texas, the UFC Welterweight Championship will be defended by current champion Tyron "The Chosen One" Woodley against the #2 contender Darren "The Gorilla Till.
Unfortunately, that will be the only title fight on the show as the Women's Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano was taken to the hospital due to illness revolving around weight cutting. Since then, Dana White has stripped her of the UFC flyweight title and said that her opponent Valentina Shevchenko will not fight on this show, but will fight someone for that title before the end of the year.
Let's run down the main card:
Welterweight: Tyron Woodley (c) (+115) vs. Darren Till (-135)
Will the size game be too much for the champion? Till may have a tremendous weight and height advantage when they enter the cage. Till missed weight by 4 pounds for his most recent match against Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson a few months ago, and for that fight he cut from 220 which is insane for a welterweight. Till already has 3 inches of height on T-Wood, but he could go into the cage with some severe poundage on him as well. However, T-Wood is the ultimate athlete and fighting. His quickness and athleticism will determine the outcome. Has he lost a step since his knee injury? We will see. Peach's Pick: T-Wood
Women's Strawweight Jéssica Andrade (-475) vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz (+380)
Andrade is going to have the size and strength advantage, but KK has the striking edge. Will Andrade get tired? If this were a five rounder I'd take KK but it's not. Peach's Pick: Andrade
Featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov (-1275) vs. Brandon Davis (+825)
With the longest odds of the show, the book makers believe Zabit should have no trouble dismantling Davis. Zabit is ranked 15 and Davis is unranked. I'm going with the bookies. Peach's Pick: Magomedsharipov
Bantamweight Jimmie Rivera (-145) vs. John Dodson (+125)
This one is insteresting as Dodson is definitely going to be the smaller man at bantamweight. If history is any indication, Dodson has gone win, lose, win, lose, win, lose, win over his last seven, so it may be time for a lose. I like Rivera's power here and I expect him to catch Dodson. Peach's Pick: Rivera
Welterweight Abdul Razak Alhassan (-115) vs. Niko Price (-105)
Alhassan is a slight favorite here as this is about as close to a "pick 'em" as you can get. Price probably has the striking edge technically, but Alhassan is an amazing athlete, and athletes find ways to win. Peach's Pick: Alhassan
For the rest of the card, my pick is in BOLD.
