ROH Honor United - Night One from Edinburgh

Night One - 5/26, Edinburgh, Scotland

I was hoping they were going to have a show in North Kiltstowne. Maybe next trip.

Shane Taylor def Scorpio Sky with a seated piledriver

  • Before the match, "Almighty" Chris Daniels and Frankie Kazarian offered Shane Taylor some money to forfeit the match with Sky. The fans chanted, "Take the money!" Just once I'd like to see that actually happen. Instead, we had a match.
  • Sky didn't get to do much of crazy offense. He just took a beating.

IWGP Tag Team Champions Sanada and EVIL def SoCal Uncensored Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian in a non title match after Sanada took Kaz to the floor and Evil hit Everything Is Evil on Daniels

  • Daniels still has a great arsenal of moves after a very long career. He's performing better than ever. Kaz is as well.
  • Sanada and EVIL used a lot of innovative double team moves to get the win here.

Kelly Klein & Chardonnay def WoH Champion Sumie Sakai and Tenille Dashwood after Klein rolled up Dashwood while holding the tights

  • Not a fan of Klein. She works slow and her outfit is rather drab, albeit appropriate for the location.
  • Sakai just hasn't clicked as the WoH champion. She needs to be flashier.
  • This was a typical tag match, nothing special.

Punishment Martinez def Kenny King with a South of Heaven chokeslam

  • Martinez has everything. He should be getting a call from WWE soon, especially since they now have billions of dollars at their disposal.
  • King looked really good and sold like crazy for the big man.

The Young Bucks def NWA Champion Nick Aldis and Mark Haskins after Haskins hit a blind tag and immediately took the Meltzer Driver

  • The Bucks brought their A game to Scotland and pulled out all of their wacky offense.
  • The former Magnus, Nick Aldis, has a lot of potential, and I'm glad he's no longer in Impact. He's a star and presents himself as such, which is something all indy wrestlers could use.

The Boys def Toru Yano and Delirious with a lungblower on Delirious

  • Great to see Delirious back in the ring. His character is top notch.
  • A lot of comedy here, especially in reference to the language being used by both the boys and Delirious.
  • Yano carried his DVD to the ring. Do people still buy those?

ROH TV Champion Silas Young def Joe Hendry with a hair pull, eye rake, and Misery to retain the title

  • Young is a great wrestler. His offense is crisp and believable.
  • Unfortunately, the hometown boy Hendry didn't get it done tonight. He was very over with the crowd.

ROH Six Man Tag Champions The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia, and TKO Ryan) def ROH World Champion Dalton Castle, Jay Lethal, and Tanahashi to retain their titles after Lethal went for Lethal Injection on Marseglia but Taven blasted Lethal with his walking stick. Rockstar Supernova on Lethal and Taven got the pin

  • A lot of wackiness here, but also a lot of great action.
  • Castle has a unique presence, and his character works both comedically and realistically.
  • If Taven got in better shape, he could be world champion someday.
  • I always think of the disappointing UFC fighter, Vinny Magalhaes, when I hear Vinny Marseglia's name.

ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes def Hangman Page and Cody w/ Brandi Rhodes after Cody saved Page from a Doomsday Device but Jay hit another low blow on Page and followed with a Jay Driller

  • Brandi came out in a sling but was hiding hairspray in it, which was used later on the Briscoes. Guess she took a page out of the Miss Elizabeth playbook.
  • Cody did his usual tribute to Dusty and Golddust spots.
  • The finish was kind of out of nowhere as it looked like Cody was about to make the save as he cut Mark off from the top rope, but Jay back kicked Page in the nuts and hit a sick Jay Driller for the win.
  • Briscoes laid out Cody as well after the match with the belt.

Stay tuned for more ROH Honor United results...
